Newborn Luxury Beds
They will fall in Love!

Oh my gosh!!  I have edited this post because I got some super great news this morning.  Because these beds were so popular, I had to triple my order.  Due to that, my Cost of Goods were basically cut in half!!  I had to email back to double check because it seemed too good to be true :D

I haven't charged any of you that have already placed the orders so your invoices will reflect the new prices! So here's the rest of the post with the new improved pricing!!  And to make it even better, I have decided to price these individually based on my costs so you can get an even better deal.  I really hope this helps all you new photographers out there! Shipping fees will be approximately $30 but once the beds arrive I will check your zip code to see if you can save a little dough and I will refund the difference if it's more than a couple of bucks.

All these beds are meant to be PROPS ONLY.  Please do not use them for any other purpose.

I have fallen in love with these stunning beds! I really wish I had time to schedule some newborn shoots! I may see if I can borrow a newborn within a few days :)  I just can't wait to use them.  They can be used as newborn beds or as little benches for toddlers. some come with cushions, some don't but I will be more than happy to sell one to you as well.

These metal beds are very sturdy and the perfect size for newborns and even some infants. Toddlers fit perfectly well seated on them like a bench.  The weights very from 7-12 lbs outside the box.  Each photo below has the measurements of each bed.  These can be spray painted in any color and for a separate fee, I can do it for you.  It's relatively easy to do so unless you have absolutely no time, you can save a little money by doing it yourself.  I'll be more than happy to do it for you for $10.

I will be importing these and they will arrive in approximately 30 days.  They are well worth the prices and the weight.  They will certainly set you apart from your competition. Combine them with some of my beautiful baseboards and fabric backdrops and you will see your profits rise!  Parents will not be able to resist your newborn portraits.

This first bed is the Meagan.  It's a semi-circular bed in brown metal. This bed does not come with a cushion but any standard pillow will be good to use.  The image below shows it with one of these pillows covered with a light toile fabric. The little model is a year old and she sits perfectly on top. Gorgeous wouldn't you say?  I'd say, "give me your largest portrait package!"

The Meagan is Priced: $100

This next bed is the Phoebe.  Elegant yet simple; use indoor or out, it will look like it belongs right where you place it.  I LOVE this bed.  A beautiful design, this bed comes with a cushion.  In the photo the cushion is covered with some of my luxurious Satin Rose fabric in Ivory which can also be purchased.  Bed or bench, Mom will be in love and will not be able to resist!

The Phoebe is Priced: $100

My Newborn Canopy bed is perfect for a princess!  A cushion is included.  The photo below has the cushion covered with some of my pink sherpa fabric.  I will be glad to sell you some as well as a yard of Chiffon of your choice in color to create the canopy look but the bed looks great with or without it.

This Canopy is Priced: $125

This next one is a stunning piece of art.  The Heather is a sleigh style; beautifully adorned. All I can say is WoW! This is perfect for any occasion but can you see it as a Christmas Prop?  I can't wait to get the perfect backdrop to show this off!  I have to say this one is my favorite and I know it will be your client's favorite as well!

The Heather is Priced: $150

This next one is one I have not received yet.  It's the same size as the Meagan.  I really, really like the look of this one.  I don't believe it comes with a cushion but it's quite possible.  I will know more once I completely finish placing my order.

The Riley is priced: $125

The ones below are samples.  I have only ordered the one. If you are interested in any, please let me know so I can increase the number.

Chic and Shabby
I took these photos very quickly to get them up.   The lighting changed on me but it's an ivory/creme color and in person looks more similar to the bottom photos.  I punched up the color in Lightroom on the top one.  Monitor colors will vary.

This would sell for $150

I also have this round one coming; not liking the fabric but I'm sure it comes with the cushion since it's round.  Cushions can always be covered with some beautiful fabric.

Price: $100

These items will sell on my Facebook Page.  Message me with your choice(s) or email me at lawana@LawanaMPhotography.com and I will send you an invoice. Please be advise I will only ship to Confirmed Paypal addresses only. This is for your protection and mine.  If you haven't added your new address, please make sure you have done that before you order. Otherwise, you can send me copy of something with your address and name on it.  Your DL will work just fine.

Now Selling Mini Stands!

Wow, it's been so busy!  I haven't had a chance to post anything interesting.  How does anyone do this??  I mean, between the family, my work, church, and a life it's difficult to find time to sit down every couple of days and post.  My hats off to those of you that can do that!!

So... I've started selling stands in my little shop and there are several kits I sell with them.  I don't sell them separately but they are very affordable kits for those who are just starting out or those who would like to add to their collection of props.  I get asked about these a lot so instead of sending everyone separate emails like I've been doing lately, I thought I would post the information here.

My kits are a bundle of different props that you can purchase all at once and be able to have everything you need for a shoot as soon as it gets there and you iron a little :) I sell these at a discount when purchased as s kit.  My goal is to eventually be a one stop shop and as soon as I can hire a couple more people to help with the logistics, I can start introducing all the other items I'd like to make to add to my repertoire.

Note: I had to increase the cost of my backdrop support stands by $11 only due to increase in wholesale price :( but considering the prices I've seen online, it's still a super great deal. The prices below already reflect that change)

1. Standard Kit ($191.50) Perfect for those of you who are just starting out on a tight budget.
This kit contains everything similar to what you see here including the stand
(and except for Miss Kitty).
1 Stand
1 6ft Drop
56" Single-sided board
56x48" floor
18x20 fur
(the fur shown in photo is larger that the size in the kit)

2. Large kit ($272.50)
This kit is similar to the Standard Kit above but some of the items are larger:

1 Stand
1 6ft Drop
60" Double-sided Board
60x60 Floor
30x36 Fur

3. Newborn Kit ($95)
This kit if for those of you that are interested in shooting newborns or would like to have a set of props that is easier to carry to a client's home for a newborn shoot. It's a very professional look when you have the equipment you need to get the job done quickly and efficiently.  The photo below shows 3 of the 4 items in the kit.

1 Boom Stand
1 48"x36" Satin Rose Fabric Drop w/o pocket
1 Mini Drop
18x20 fur

4. Mini Kit ($111)  This kit is perfect for those of you who want to shoot newborns, infants and toddlers.  The photos below show these items but not all the items are included in the kit.

1 Stand
2 Mini Drops
18x20 Fur

5. Backdrop Kit ($153.50)  Just want the drops and the stand.. this one is just for you.

1 Stand
3 6ft Drops

6. Backdrop and Board kit ($226)  Already have a faux floor or some nice flooring in your home?  This kit is perfect.  For a floor that is part of your home, clamps will be needed to keep the backdrop close and tight against the baseboard.  Otherwise, the drop can be placed under the flooring to make it taut.  Clamps can be included.  Contact me for details. And again, not all items in the photos are part of the kit.

1 Stand
1 Double-sided 60" board
2 6ft Drops
(2 clamps can be added for additional price)

So there you have it. Now, please read the LOTS OF important information below as many of your question will probably be answered here:

Prices above do not include tax (for TX residents) or shipping fees.  Most kits will be under $15 but the larger ones may be upwards of $25 or so. Shipping fees are flat rate fees. Why? It helps me get my products out a lot faster if I don't have to stop and check each shipment for individual shipping prices. Sometimes the rates are dead on, sometimes less, sometimes I lose a bit of money.  But this is the most efficient way for me.

I DO NOT guarantee any of my items to be made by a certain time frame.  The 2-3 week period I ask for is an approximation.  PLEASE do not take that as a set in stone time frame and schedule an important shoot with the idea that you will get these items by a specific date.

Why do I ask for so much time?  Most of the reason is because my fabric supplier sometimes runs a bit behind, especially with my large orders. And sometimes, the fabric ordered is out of stock and they won't tell me until a few days after my order.  Sometimes, they send me the wrong fabric and I have to have them ship me the correct one.  And sometimes my boards take a little longer to dry in wet humid weather. That being said, I do carry a lot of items in stock, even backdrops and boards, so it is possible to get these items within a few days.  Contact me for details. All this to say, please be patient; but know I'm working hard to get your items to you as soon as I possibly can.

Rush service and fees are available for items I have in stock and are for production only.  Express service for shipping is available at additional cost .

The stands:

The mini stand will extend to 5' wide (perfect for all my backdrops) and about 7' high.  At it's shortest it's about 3.5 feet, perfect for my mini drops.  It is a lightweight, easy to set up stand weighing about 8 lbs. It comes with a carrying bag and is easy to carry to a client's home.  It's meant to be used inside your home or studio.  I can provide a larger stand as well. Contact me for details.

The boom newborn stand is also very easy to set up and lightweight. This is a boom stand that can be used for this purpose but is not made specifically for this purpose. The blanket or backdrop must be clamped to keep it up. There are no rod pockets.  It does not come with a bag but it is very easy to carry without it.   You can purchase one if you'd like. Just email me for details.

These kits are not shipped to anywhere outside the Contiguous US unless you are willing to pay a high shipping fee.  An example, I shipped just ONE 60" board to the UK and the cost was about $60 for Express; only $4 more than Priority.

The photos above are not the exact items that you will purchase.  Only the items listed in the KIT are part of the kit; any other item not described as part of the kit but seen in the photos are NOT part of the kit.  That includes items such as blankets, suitcases, stools, hat boxes, stuffed animals, etc.

You have the choice of colors and patterns for backdrops, boards and furs.  However, all kits are priced for non-premium backdrops.  I have backdrops in my shop that are more expensive than others and the last photo with the mocking bird and roses is an example of one of them. If you are interested in including one of those as part of your kit, I would just add the price difference to the total cost.

I reserve the right to change the price at any time or the components of each kit at any time without consequence.

You may add other items to your kit at a 5% discount.

I can also arrange a special kit just for you if you have specific needs.  Just email me and ask me about it. All kits include stand though.

Hope you find this useful!

THIS GIVEAWAY HAS CLOSED!

I'm finally off my heavy meds after my surgery and all is fantastic!  I'm back to 100% after just one week so my family and I couldn't be happier.  Thanks to all my family and friends who were in prayer about it!  I know that played a big factor in my better-than-expected surgery and recovery.

My mouth was supposed to be wired shut for 10-14 days! I was SO SO nervous about that considering I don't like pain and I really love to eat.  My jaw was locked and in pain for almost 2 years so this was the solution.  Two procedures were scheduled but once my doctor went in.. he found he only needed to do ONE and the one that required the wires did NOT have to be!!  What a great surprise waking up in a fog!

A day after my sugery I was eating what the doctor told me not to eat and two days later I was eating what the doctor told me to stop eating... needless to say.. I'm probably going to get it when I see him again today but I love pistachios and I just can't stop.

So I promised I would have a giveaway at 100 Facebook Likes and that number has come and gone.  I'm a little late but I hope the excuse above will get me out of hot water :)

The winner can choose between a Moss Green, White, Two-Tone Pink or a Two-tone Grey Fur

These furs can be washed by soaking in water, then wring, fluff a bit, and air dry ONLY.

This one will be a super easy drawing. All you have to do to win the 18x20 fur is to Follow My Blog.  So, if I see your cute little avatar on the right of this post, you will automatically be entered!  If I see that you are a fan of my FB page, I'll enter you once more.  If you link me to a shout-out on your FB page or blog... then I'll enter you once more!  You can send me the link here or let me know on my FB page.

The one you MUST do to enter this contest is FOLLOW MY BLOG.. the rest are just additional chances to win.

So:

Follow my blog (a must)
Like my FB page (chance 2)
Send me a link to a shout-out on your FB or Blog (chance 3)

I hope you guys have a GREAT week!  It's raining here in my little town near Austin.  Love the rain!!  We really need it!  We were getting a little tired of the 70-80 degree weather we were having so in the 60's are finally starting to make it feel like it's winter!  Ok.. not nice to rub it in to most people. But wait 'til Summer when we have 3 months of 100 degree or above weather..... we won't be so happy then!

I should mention this contest is open to US only.  BUT, if you are outside US and willing to pay the $12 extra (I will pay the first $5 I would have paid for US winner), I will allow it.  Should that not happen, I will re-draw :)

Let's Give Something Away!

Ok.. I have to give something away for the New Year! Since it'll be a little while until I get to my BIG giveaway due to a surgery coming up, I thought I'd at least give away a backdrop! This is the backdrop that I will be sending the winner (ONLY the backdrop.. no board, fur, basket or floor.. though I do sell those :)

The winner will be chosen at random. Each entry (LIKE and comment combined= 1 ticket) will will be placed in a pretty box. The more friends that comment, the more tickets and the better the chance of your ticket being the one picked from that pretty box!

And..here are the rules which will be strictly enforced!1. Play nice, it's only a backdrop... :)
2. If you haven't already done so, go to my FB page and LIKE ME so I know your FB name!
3. Ask your friends to LIKE MY PAGE TOO so you have a better chance of winning
4. Your friends must also
come to this page via the link on my FB page and type in your FB name (they can say something sweet too). I need it so I can give you credit and each name gives you an extra chance to win.

You may transfer the item to a friend. If you win the backdrop but want it shipped to a friend or relative, I can do that for you. Again, I cannot be held responsible for shipping mishaps.

Boards

Wow! A brand new year! A fresh new start! God has great plans and I'm so blessed to be a part of them!

The holidays are now over and I've noticed people are back to work, getting ready for those spring shoots! In my Etsy Shop I've been asked by several about my boards and prices since I have photos of them but none to sell. I don't have any for sale at this time but in a couple of days, I will have a couple of Ready-To-Ship boards my customers can receive usually within 3 days! Custom boards however, will have to wait a few more weeks. I have a surgery scheduled in a week and a half and it'll take a little while for me to get back to jig sawing and using my router. So sad!

It was a little lengthy sending each customer a detailed email about my prices so I thought I'd type up a post explaining my board sizes and prices.

I sell 2 board sizes, 48" and 56". I made the 48" board because they can be used with just about any quilting or fashion fabric you can run out and get at your local fabric store. That's the normal width of those type of fabrics. The 56" are perfect for the home decor type fabrics. But I've used the 48" with wider fabrics and vice versa.

I have at this time 3 different shapes of boards I offer with others still on the drawing board.
The Precious Board is the most popular

The Linda board comes in second

And then the Suave

I also sell Chica size boards which are used in combination with my regular sized boards. They come in the same length and style but are shorter to give it a different look. They are typically about 2.5-3" tall.

My boards are single sided or double sided. Single sided boards are economical and if you get a neutral color, you can use it with just about any backdrop. Double-sided boards save you shipping fees which are hefty considering they weigh between 4 to 6 lbs per board. They save space and are easier to transport than having 2 boards, obviously.

My prices:
48" Board Single-Sided: $45.00 Shipping $13
48" Board Double-Sided: $90.00 Shipping $13
56" Board Single-Sided: $55.00 Shipping $14
56" Board Double-Sided: $110.00 Shipping $14

There is no cost saving on the boards themselves when you purchase a double-sided board because you save $12-$14 on shipping by purchasing it that way.
Please visit my Etsy Shop frequently to see what boards I have available.

Chic magnetic and push pin boards that are easy to make

Christmas is right around the corner! With a little extra time on my hands, now that the kids are out of school, I thought I'd help organize my daughter's room. She LOVES to draw and her artwork will generally end up taped to the wall. Instead of discouraging her from doing that, I thought we'd both work together on a project I think is easy enough for just about anyone to do. With her help, I created 3 message boards for her to use to display her art and anything else she was interested in sharing with the world.

I rummaged through some of the fabric I use to create the photography backdrops I sell to find some that worked well in her room. I found a pretty pink/taupe mini damask pattern and a robin egg blue and white large damask pattern. I LOVE these fabrics!!! They are some of the most popular in my shop.

We had 2 wall areas I wanted to cover so I decided 3 large frames would do the trick. My goal was to create one tack board to put above her craft table, and a magnetic board and combo magnetic / marker board to combine above her bed.

The materials, supplies and tools I needed:
3 Old Frames (I had 1 with glass and 2 without)
gloves
Enough fabric to fit in each frame
Metal Sheets (for 2 frames)
Fabric glue spray
Cork or Foam Board that comes from frame
Rotary fabric cutter
Utility Shears to cut metal
Duct Tape

I stopped by Goodwill to look for some frames. I purchased 3 large ones for about 20 bucks. I think that was a little much considering I could have found them much cheaper at a yard sale. But hey, it's for a good cause right? One had glass and 2 didn't. That was ok. I would be making one a push pin board so no glass would be used there. One would be a magnetic board so no glass is required for that one. And the 3rd board I wanted to make magnetic with glass so she could also write messages on it with an Expo Marker.

So here's one of the ugly frames. I stripped the back off and got it ready for painting. I used a little birthday wax candle I had left over from a party and rubbed it lightly on the edges.I spray painted it antique white and let it dry completely.

Now I needed to cut the metal so I could wrap the fabric around it. I used the chipboard that came with the frame and placed it on top of the metal sheet I found at Lowes. This would help me outline the exact size that fits inside the frame using a sharpie. You will need to use gloves to cut the metal sheet with the utility shears. They are VERY VERY sharp.

Save the extra pieces for other projects!

Get the fabric ready by ironing if you need to. Place the same chipboard you used to outline the metal to cut out the fabric using a rotary cutter. Before you cut, double check the pattern looks the way you want it to. Cut it just a tiny tad larger than the metal sheet you just cut so that it will eventually wrap around the metal but not by much.

It's time to glue the fabric to the metal sheet. You decide how best to do this but I sprayed the metal and laid the fabric down carefully on top. Gently smoothing out the bubbles paying mind to the sharp edges while doing so. Now you know why the fabric should be a little larger than the metal sheet. You can see from the picture below on the far right hand corner on the bottom, the fabric didn't quite cover the metal sheet but it was still fine since it would not be seen inside the frame.

Grab the frame and gently rub or scratch the edges and it will easily distress the wood because the spray paint didn't adhere where the wax was applied. At this point you can either place the glass back in the frame if it has it or place the fabric covered metal sheet in the frame without it.

I used the chipboard and mat that came with the picture to secure the back. As you can see I placed it facing out so you could see what I was doing. You can make it as pretty or as "not pretty" as you would like. I was in a bit of a hurry so I just plopped it in and duct taped it. The key is to make sure it's nice and snug so that the sheet doesn't bow out the front but isn't so loose it moves when you push on it from the front.

Here are the pair, both magnetic one with glass

And some cute little magnets I made with some pretty glass rocks I found at Hobby Lobby.

The tack boards or push pin boards are created the same way but in my case I just used the foam board that came with one of the picture frames but you can use corkboard instead. Treat it as you did the metal sheet and wrap the fabric around it instead. Here's the picture of the "non-magnetic" pin board before I plopped it in the frame.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
